FLUSH HARDWARE INTEGRATION |

The frame of our door panel is
built from a 1" X 2" rectangular steel tube rather than an
open steel channel. We then install a custom machining
preparation that provides an attractive flush mount for your
selected door hardware. When an open channel is used to
construct the frame of the door panel, the door hardware is
mounted proud in the bottom of the channel. It appears as
though the hardware is just bolted on, rather than having a
custom finished fit. Our custom machining preparation for
your hardware will not only provide for a better performing
latch and lock, but will prolong the life of your high-end
door hardware. The Rehme machining prep simply creates a

feeling, and performing door
that will not wear out your door hardware.

SIMPLER GLAZING METHODS |

The Rehme steel window and
doors systems are designed to receive 5/8" insulated
glass (IG) units, and have a removable steel stop
fabricated from 1/2" square bar. These IG units and
removable stops are field-glazed from the interior using
structural silicone (we recommend Spectrum 3). We feel
that glazing the IG units from the interior of the
building provides a better seal because all the moving
parts have been placed out of the rain. There are no
mechanical fasteners required to secure in the glass or
stop. This super simple glazing method is superior
because it allows for very easy IG unit installation and
replacement. In the event that you get a broken window,
any local glass professional can come to your door or
window unit, cut out the removable steel stop, and then
re-silicone in the new IG unit and removable stop.
Simple!
Some other steel window
and door systems require screws and/or clips to keep
track of, which local glazers don't like because the
clips often break and the screws often get lost or cross
threaded. And, some other steel window and door systems
that are putty glazed require a VERY skilled
professional with specialized tools and equipment come
to your steel door or window to re-putty glaze the IG
unit. Putty glazing in the field is an art and it is
difficult to find local professionals with the skills to
make the replacement putty glazed window look exactly
like the adjacent putty glazed windows; especially if
you're in a hurry.
The fact that our door and
window systems are field glazed allows you to work with
your local glass professional to obtain the right glass
for you. You get to choose the right low-e film, color,
thermal and UV performance, spacer color and material,
etc. Often our customers wish to match the glass in
their Rehme steel units with the glass in the rest of
the building. They have every opportunity to do so,
since the Rehme system is locally field glazed by your
glass professional rather than being stuck with the
manufacturers supplied glass which may not match the
glass in your other windows.

SUPERIOR HINGES |

We have engineered a hinge
that will never need lubricating, will never squeak, and
will never wear out. Most other steel door manufactures
produce a hinge that relies on grease to lubricate a
steel-on-steel bearing situation. We have designed a hinge
that has no load bearing steel-on-steel. The entire load in
our engineered hinge bears on stainless steel and hardened,
self-lubricating bronze. Our hinge is stronger, smoother,
and more durable than any other steel door hinge on the
market.

custom. Every aspect of our door system can be customized
for your unique conditions. Most architects want to do
something unique and different. So, we have designed this
door and window system, and built this company to be ready
for unique design challenges. If you want a custom door or
window unit with a deeper jamb, thicker glass, taller doors,
auto opening/closing sashes and doors, low profile
threshold, adjustable wiper system, etc, we can work with
you to design it to meet your needs. Our CAD design
department produces professional, clear, concise drawings
for your review in both PDF format and DWG format. Working
with our design department will make the process of getting
your vision from concept to product smoother and easier than
other steel door manufacturers.

UNITIZED CONSTRUCTION ~ NO
ASSEMBLY REQUIRED |

Who wants to assemble a kit of
parts? The Rehme Steel Window & Door system is built and
shipped as one fully fabricated framework that requires no
assembly on site. We recently delivered a single door unit
that was 25' long and 11' tall with 2 French doors, side
lights, and a transom. It showed up on the trailer in one
big unitized assembly, and since our system is field glazed
after delivery, the 275 square foot door unit required no
special lifting equipment. This large unit was simply
lifted off the trailer by the framing crew, walked to the
rough opening and was screwed into place in minutes; no
cranes, forklift, or sky-tracks. The only limitation on the
size of a single unitized assembly is transportation. If it
can fit on a trailer, we can build it.
